DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL BIOLOGY

I. STAFFS & ORGANIZATION

There are 61 employees in the Department of Medical Biology, distributed between 7 laboratories, 2 units and 1 dispensary:

· Laboratory of bacteriology

· Laboratory of biochemistry and Immunology.

· Laboratory of hematology.

· Laboratory of AIDS and Molecular Biology.

· Laboratory of Hepatitis virus

· Lab. for qualitative controls in chemistry.

· Lab. for qualitative control in bacteriology.

· Unit for preparation of culture media and storage services.

· Unit for reception.

· Unit for dispensary.

II. SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

The department of Medical Biology comprises two services:

· The laboratories in the service of Medical Analysis

· The dispensary

The functional activities of these laboratories are composed:

· Medical analysis of Biochemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Bacteriology and Virology

· The analysis of food, water, industry products in chemistry and bacteriology

· The preparation of media culture

· The activities of research scientific

The dispensary of Pasteur Institute works out two principal activities:

· Consultations: infectious diseases and some other general diseases

· Vaccination
