Four subjects were studied for detecting the bacterial carries:
1.
The
typhoid fever cases hospitalized were taken for blood culture (215 cases of
1998 and 144 cases of 1999). In 1998, 36/215 cases (16,7%)
had positive blood cultures. Among the positive cases, 30 cases were continued
to take the stool cultures and 3/30 (10%) were positive stool cultures after
the treatment based on antibiogram results 11.8% and 0% respectably.
2. The old patients hospitalized in 1997
(restrospective case – report study): 3/36 cases (8.3%) had still a positive
stool culture. This is the chronic bacterial carrier.
3. Family members of the positive blood
cultures in 1998: 99 were examined by stool cultures. In 1998, 2/105 persons
(1.9%) were positive. In 1999, nobody was detected positive.
Family members of the old patients (detected
in 1997) had the bacterial carrier rate of 1% (1/98 persons)
1. The neighbour of the positive blood culture
cases: in 1998, 1/98 persons (1%) is positive stool culture. In 1999, the rate
was zero.
Among 3 positive stool culture cases from the first subjects (subjects hospitalized and positive blood cultured in 1998), there are two cases who had to repeat two specific treatment sessions based on antibiogram results. The final result after treatment was negative blood culture.
The rest of bacterial carriers were treated one specific treatment session. All of them were negative stool culture after the treatment.
