Salmonella is one of the most important bacteria that may cause foodborne disease and also human salmonellosis infection. Conventional method is still most used for the detection of Salmonella spp. in food or clinical samples, but it is too long, it takes 4-7 days to get result. A PCR-based method for the detection of Salmonella spp. in food has been developed. This method is sensitive and specific and gives the same result as the one’s conventional method of reference. The detection limit of PCR was assessed based on the conventional method by food samples artificially contaminated (average 5 – 10 cfu/ml). Moreover, the result can be got faster within 24h.
