SOME RESULTS COME FROM THE CLINICAL AND BIOLOGICAL FOLLOW-UP SYSTEM FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) AFTER 03 YEARS

Introduction

With Thailand and India, VietNam is the country in Asia that has the HIV(+) prevalence very high on the ten years of the last decade. VietNam government has many activities against this pandemic so soon. The clinical and biological follow-up system for PLWHAs is constructed with the support of the ONG of Belgium from 1999 at the service of Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi MinhCity.

Objectives

-         Setting the clinical and biological follow-up system for PLWHAs.

-         Support PLWHAs about psychologie, counselling and prevention.

-         Collecting the experiences in opportunistic infected diagnosis and treatment for the medicals doctors who are participating in this system.

Results

1.       The clinical and biological folow-up system for PLWHAs consist of 307 persons, with the mean – CD4 = 382 ± 257 in the first examination; Co-infection serologie prevalence is 100% for CMV, 50.38% for HCV… and HIV(+) serologie is 24% among the sexuals or sharing needdles partners.

2.       PLWHAs are accepted counselling and opportunistic infectecd prevention or treatment through 03 years. Medecins are collecting many experiences in the monitoring for PLWHAs.

Conclusion

The clinial and biological follow-up sytem for PLAWAs is very helpfull for patiens and doctors in many side. This system needs to be studied more.
