Vectron 30 ULV in a brand-new insecticide, belongs to Pyrethroid group, it was produced by Mitsui Toatsu chemical inc., and introduced with an effective killing action and low toxicity to human. To find out the appropriate dosage and assess the field efficacy of Vectron 30 ULV against Aedes aegypti, an experiment was carried out in an hamlet of NhaBe district, suburban area of HoChiMinh city from June to August, 1996.
The results of laboratory test and field assessment from two treatments at different dosages indicated that:

Vectron
30 ULV space spray have quick killing efficacy; nearly all adult mosquito Aedes aegypti in target area was killed
immediately. This meets the demands of interrupting the DHF
outbreak and sustain the good effects for weeks.

All
of 2 tested dosages (30gr/ha and 22.5gr/ha) has good effect. That mean, at dose
30gr/ha it has the shortest knockdown time after 24 hours all of mosquito was
completely killed (100%), dose 22.5gr/ha has 88-100% mortality/24 hours.
However, in the field dose of 22.5gr/ha is good enough to kill all adult Aedes aegypti, because the
sustainability of mosquito index in low level depends on the frequency of
application and few on dosage.

30 ULV also has kill-effect on Culex
quinquefasciatus but not good as on Aedes aegypti.

30 ULV space spray at tested dosages has no bad smell, and side effect (mucous
membrane and skin irritating). It has been welcomed by people in target area.
