EPI ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Since 1985 the EPI has been implemented in the whole country, starting with 6 vaccines and later expanded to new vaccines such as JE, HBV, cholera and typhoid

The morbidity of childhood vaccine preventable diseases has been remarkable decreased

On December 15, 2000, in Ha Noi, Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, on behalf of Vietnamese  Government, declared solemnly that Vietnam has eradicated poliomyelitis since the year 2000 and this has been officially recognized by W.H.O.

The achievements of the E.P.I. in recent years were the results of efforts by the Communist Party and the Government, as well as active contribution by the medical branch and of the efforts of the entire society as well as intelligence in people's health care.

These important factors were the advantageous base for Vietnam in the neonatal tetanus elimination and measles control in the early years of the 21st century.
